It Has Multiple Switches And Locks, Allowing For Better Mobility And Functionality.

It’s Difficult To Determine It’s Age, But I’d Say Circa 1930’s/40’s. Although, the rubber on the hand suggests an early attempt at using rubber, rather than the more refined prosthetic hands of the late 1940s and 1950s. Many World War 1 amputees were still using prosthetics in the 1930s-40s, so this could have been an older model that remained in use.

Prosthetics like this were widely produced during and after the war to help wounded soldiers reintegrate into society.

Manufacturers experimented with rubberised coatings over wood or metal to improve realism of the hands, like on this example. The large number of amputees from the war accelerated the development of lighter, more functional prosthetic limbs. Aluminium became a preferred material because it reduced the overall weight, making movement easier.

Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound. Some age related wear, including some staining to the leather, some white specs to the fingertips and some very minor dinks to the metal. Overall, very good for its age.

Measures 74cm in length

Weighs 1650 grams

SHIPPING

RETURNS

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0259/1729/2580/files/59DA5240-0B86-4B76-A4DD-90393BDA5562.jpg?v=1741791580
