Talking Antiques With The Bidding Room's Very Own Jo Roberts

It's Monday, it's blog post time and I have another guest interview for you!

This week, I was very fortunate to catch up with artist, turned antiques dealer, turned TV star, Jo Roberts!  Some of you will recognise her from BBC antiques show 'The Bidding Room'.

Jo sells at fairs and through her own website - josobjectsofdesire.co.uk - and is heavily involved in the online antiques scene, especially through her Instagram page - @josobjetsd.art .  Her Instagram live chats are a must see, if you haven't already, and her duets with fellow 'Bidding Room' dealer, Adi Higham, are a fun addition.  Jo is simply bursting with creativity and energy, and has a real eye for style.

So, without further ado, let's get down to business.  Get that kettle, kick back and let's find out a bit more about one of 'The Bidding Room's' newest resident experts, Jo Roberts....

Talking Antiques With 'Etoile Brocante's' Kate Plumpton - Antiques Dealer & Theatrical Agent

Welcome, once again, to "Blog Post Monday"!  If you're an avid follower of my blog, you'll know that throughout last year, I was fortunate enough to do a series of interviews with some seriously big names in the antiques trade.  I absolutely loved doing them and you seemed to enjoy them too.  With that in mind, I wanted to continue with them this year, so I have been busy reaching out to some more stars, in the hope of persuading them to take part in my small, but mighty, antiques blog...

Over the course of the next few months I will be featuring the following industry legends; Charles Hanson, Jo Roberts, Tara Franklin and Adi Higham (Take 2), to name but a few...  I'm very excited about this and I'm sure you are too!  So, to ensure that you don't miss them, sign up to my email list from "create account" at the top of this page.

However, kicking off our industry interviews for 2021 is 'Etoile Brocante's' very own Kate Plumpton.  Now, I was super excited about this interview because not only is Kate an antiques dealer, but she's also an agent to the stars, and we're taking about some big names here...!!  So let's find out what Kate had to say when I caught up with her last week...

Find Of The Week - Militaria Leather Cigar Case Of 2805 William Francis 2nd Battalion Norfolk Regiment 1891 - 1914

Welcome one and all to this week's "Blog Post Monday"!  I hope you're all keeping safe and well.

Sometimes in this job you stumble across things that are just that extra bit special and this week, I'm pleased to say that happened to me!  With lockdown ongoing, we're stuck to searching for our treasures online and this week, while perusing the wonders of the web, I stumbled across a super piece of militaria history.  A personalised leather cigar case which shows the postings of W.Francis of the Norfolk Regiment from 1891 to 1904.

I'm excited about it and because I'm excited about it, I intend to tell you all about it!  So, this week's blog post is about a leather cigar case and my search to find out who W.Francis of the Norfolk Regiment was.

So, get that kettle on, buckle up and get ready to travel back in time with me to meet the man himself...

Talking Antiques With Industry Legend David Harper

Industry Interviews

Talking Antiques With Industry Legend David Harper

Happy Monday and welcome to my final blog post of 2020!

I thought, what better way to finish the year than with some more expert advice from another antiques great...

If you've been following my blog, you'll know that I've caught up with a few industry legends this year.  I hope to continue these short interviews next year, as they've seemed very popular, but it will all depend on if I can persuade more of these legends to take part.  I'll see what I can do for you!

Nevertheless, this year has been a real start studded turn out.  We've managed to chat to 'Dickinson's Real Deal's' very own Tim Hogarth, 'The Urban Vintage Affair' and 'The Bidding Room's' Natasha Francis, 'Bargain Hunt's' Gary Pe'Hoof Brocante' and 'The Bidding Room's Adi Higham and 'The Antiques Road Trip's' Isabel Balmer.

This week, for our final interview of 2020, I had the good fortune of chatting to David Harper, whom I'm sure you will all recognise from popular BBC antiques shows, 'Bargain Hunt' and 'The Antiques Road Trip'.  I know some of you got in touch with me to request this interview, so here you go, a gift from me to you.  Merry Christmas...!

So, for the final time in 2020, get that kettle on, settle in and let's see what arouses David's curiosity in the world of antiques...

How A Lost WW2 Wartime Identity Bracelet Was Reunited With Its Family

Happy Monday one and all!  It's that time again...!

Some of you will already know that, after the success of reuniting a family with their mother's World War 2 air raid identity bracelet a month or so ago, I was sent another bracelet by someone who had seen the last story.  They asked if I could help reunite this bracelet with its family.  So, of course, I agreed.

This week's blog post is dedicated to my search for the family of Grace Wilson and how, through the power of sharing and caring, we managed to track down Grace's closest living relatives and return the bracelet to where it belongs.

So, as always, get yoursel' a brew and settle in for this weeks story...
