A wonderfully atmospheric early 19th century bronze Green Man water spout, modelled as a striking foliate faced mask with deeply carved features, curling brows, broad nose and a luxuriant mane of stylised leaves. The open mouth forms the original water outlet. The bronze has developed a superb aged surface, with rich dark brown tones alongside extensive natural green verdigris and weathering, giving the piece an exceptionally strong sense of age and character. A fantastic piece of early 19th century folk inspired decorative metalwork.
