A rare early 19th century turned hardwood 9 3/4 inches warrant stick, commissioned by the Exeter Corporation to mark the Coronation of King George IV on 19 July 1821.

It is hand painted on a dark ground, prominently featuring the Royal Crown over the royal cypher "GR IV" and the year "1821".

The reverse displays the official civic coat of arms for the City of Exeter, depicting the triple towered castle, alongside the city's historic Latin motto "SEMPER FIDELIS".

A rare survivor!

Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound. Some minor age related wear to areas of the paint, but overall, very good.

Measures 9 3/4 inches in length.
