As door handles go, this is by far the most mysterious I’ve ever seen and a favourite find. Dated 1730, initialled and with what looks very much like protection marks commonly seen in medieval churches (see photo 2).
It is a wonderful decorative piece and a rare survivor!
Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound.
